Options Menu

You can set preferences for how the SmartClient behaves from the Options window. These options control handling security on a shared computer, the size of data tables, whether you connect to your live account or beta or sandbox accounts, and more.

To set preferences:

  1. In the SmartClient toolbar, click Options.
    OptionsToolbar
  2. In the Options popup, under Security, you can set the following options:
    • Click Clear next to Clear Your Stored Credentials to remove your login information from the SmartClient. This is recommended if you use a shared computer. In the Celigo menu, choose Re-login to re-enter your credentials.
    • Check Treat Warnings as Errors to prevent a record from being added or updated if NetSuite presents a warning.
In NetSuite, warnings are usually presented as popups that you must acknowledge before an action is completed, such as an inventory warning.
If you leave this box cleared, records or transactions with warnings are still added or updated, and you receive the warning message at the end of the add/update.
    • Check Ignore Read-Only Fields to avoid errors if you have entered data into a field that is read-only in NetSuite. The data you have entered is ignored, and the read-only data in NetSuite remains. If you clear this field, you will receive an error when trying to update data in a read-only field.
  3. Click Caching and Performance on the left side of the window to set the following options:
    • Click Refresh to refresh cached data from NetSuite such as custom fields, custom records, and drop down values. You also must clear your meta data cache when you have made new customizations in your NetSuite account. The next time the SmartClient requires the custom data, it will reload your information, including new custom fields or records. Note that there are alternative ways to refresh cached data selectively. These include:
      • The Refresh option in the Custom Records menu.
        CustomRefresh
      • The Refresh button next to the custom fields list in the Templates Wizard.
        CustomButton
      • The Refresh Drop Down Items option on the cell right-click menu.
        RightClickRefresh
    • In the Search Page Size field, enter the maximum number of records or transactions to be returned when you perform a search
    • In the Refresh Table Size field, enter the maximum number of records to be returned when you Repeat Last Search.
    • In the Add/Update/Delete Request Size field, enter the default number of rows in the table used to Add Records Using Template.
    • In the Write Buffer Size field, enter the number of rows to add to the table at a time when receiving search results.
For example, if you enter 10, the SmartClient pulls search from NetSuite 10 at a time instead of waiting for all results to load. If you enter a low number, the screen will appear to flicker as more results are added. If you enter a higher number, the SmartClient may be unresponsive for a period while the results load.
    • In the Maximum Selection Size field, enter the maximum number of records that should be updated when you select a row header and click Update Selected Rows. This prevents Out of Memory Errors.
  4. Click Connectivity on the left side of the window to set the following options:
    • In the Connect to NetSuite field, select which version of your account you want to connect to.
Select Production to work with your live data. Select Beta to work with data in a beta version of NetSuite when available, such as when a new release is being phased in. Select Sandbox if you have purchased a sandbox account for testing your NetSuite data and want to work in this test account.
    • Check the Work Offline box to enter data in the SmartClient while offline.
This disables automatic validations for dropdown fields.
    • In the # of Times to Automatically Retry field, enter the number of times the SmartClient should try to login to NetSuite if the connection is not made on the first try.
    • In the Seconds Between Each Retry field, enter the number of seconds between each attempt to contact NetSuite if a connection cannot be made.
  5. Click Ok to save your preferences.
