The login credentials are stored in your Mac’s KeyChain.

Where do I access my NetSuite account number?

Please click here.

Where are the preference and log files located?

The log file can be located in the following directory path from within your home directory: Library > Logs > NetSyncX.log.

NetSyncX is still synchronizing after 5 minutes, and the Activity Monitor shows the Mingler process taking up to 90% of CPU. How can I fix this?

Deleting and recreating the iCal calendar used by NetSyncX should fix this issue.

Login and Configuration

How do I resolve NetSuite login errors?

Ensure that the Web Services feature is turned on. Log in to NetSuite using an Administrator role, and go to Setup > Company > Enable Features > SuiteFlex. Check the Web Services box, and click Save.
Also, ensure that the NetSuite account has been entered correctly. For some older NetSuite accounts, you may need to add the prefix “ACCT” to the account number.

During synchronization, why do I see the following error: ‘USER_ERROR: Invalid date range?’

Ensure that your Mac’s timezone is the same as your NetSuite account’s timezone. NetSyncX is incompatible with the Set time zone automatically using current location feature found in System Preferences > Date & Time > Time Zone.

When I try to sync, why do I get the error ‘login failed, password is empty’ even if the password field is filled out in Preferences?

Retry the sync. If this error occurs repeatedly, select another NetSuite web services end point from the Preferences.

Event and Task Synchronization

Can I use NetSyncX to synchronize my CalDAV calendars (E.g. Google Calendars) in iCal?

No. CalDAV calendars on iCal are marked read-only for Sync Services clients on Mac OS X 10.5. As read and write access is required for event and task synchronization, CalDAV calendars cannot be used with NetSyncX and is not listed in the Sync Preferences.

What are the known limitations when synchronizing events?

Calendar Event Synchronization in NetSuite:

  • When creating all-day events in a NetSuite calendar, you should always check the ‘All day event’ box rather than manually setting the start and end times. This ensures that the event will be correctly displayed as an all-day event.
  • The complex recurrences supported by each application do not map exactly to each other. The last <day> of every <period> month for monthly events and The last <day> of <month> for yearly events in NetSuite is unsupported, as the Mac does not support such recurrences.

Calendar Event Synchronization in iCal:

  • iCal allows you to create a single event starting on one day and finishing on a different day. However, NetSuite does not support this type of event. Instead, either create a recurring event or individual, separate events in iCal before synchronizing to NetSuite.
  • The event date and the start date of a recurring event must be on the same day. If the recurrence is ‘The first Friday of every month’, the event itself must be on the first Friday of any month.
  • An event with multiple monthly or yearly recurrences is unsupported. A monthly recurrence can’t be on the 5th and 10th of every month, it can only be on either the 5th or the 10th. A yearly recurrence can’t be on both June and July of every year, it can only be on either June or July.
  • Recurring events in iCal must always specify an end date rather than a number of times the event should occur.
  • NetSyncX only supports one way (NetSuite -> Mac) synchronization of attendees. It does not support the modification of an event’s attendees in iCal.

Why don’t my events and tasks from NetSuite appear in iCal?

NetSyncX is configured to search for events and tasks from the date it was first installed. If you wish to search for events or tasks before this date, modify the Preferences > Sync > Calendar/Tasks > From Date setting.

If you have events that are still not being synchronized, perform the ‘Reset and Full Sync’ action from the NetSyncX menu.

If tasks are not showing, you may need to set the Show To Do List option from the View menu in iCal.

Why do my declined events from NetSuite appear in iCal?

The NetSuite login email address must be added to your address book entry (as the logged-in user) on the Mac for declined events to be removed by iCal. The address book entry of the logged-in user has a ‘me’ icon emblem. To associate an address book entry with the logged-in user, choose Make This My Card from the Card menu.

Why do my completed tasks from NetSuite appear in iCal?

To hide completed tasks in iCal, perform the following steps:

  1. Open iCal Preferences.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Enable Hide To Do items [X] days after they have been completed.

X must be 0 for completed tasks to be removed.

Why doesn’t an event I added to iCal show in NetSuite

Only events added to the Mac calendar configured in ‘Calendar Sync’ will be synchronized with NetSuite. To move events between calendars in iCal, use the event’s context menu.

Why aren’t my modified events from iCal not updated in NetSuite?

Local modifications to events in iCal will not be updated in NetSuite if the following is true:

  • Modifications to events in your calendar are not updated in NetSuite if you are not the owner. These events have their ‘url’ field marked ‘attendee-only’.
  • Modifications to events in other calendars (enabled in ‘Calendar Sync’ under ‘Additional Calendars’) are not updated in NetSuite.

Why do I see the error “Existing event(s) in the target iCal calendar does not conform the the sync filter. Please delete all events in the target iCal calendar.” when I click the red NetSyncX icon?

NetSyncX is configured to synchronize events occuring after your install date. If you have events in your existing iCal calendar before your install date, do one of the following to address this issue:

  • Readjust the date in the sync filter to include all events in your iCal calendar.
  • Delete all the events prior to this date in your iCal calendar.
  • Sync to a new calendar.

We have to put this limitation in place to prevent possible duplication of events in NetSuite.

Contact Sync

I see the following error while refreshing the NetSuite contact categories or contact roles: ‘INSUFFICIENT_PERMISSION (you need a higher level of access of the CRM Lists permission to access this page)’.

You need to be logged in to NetSyncX with a role that has the appropriate privileges. This error is displayed with some standard roles, such as the Sales Person role. It can be addressed by asking your administrator to update your role to change the permissions as follows: go to Permissions > Setup > select CRM Lists, and grant a permission of Edit or higher.

Entourage

Can I use NetSyncX to synchronize with Microsoft Entourage?

The Entourage included in Microsoft Office 2004 (Update 11.2.3 or later) or Microsoft Office 2008 can exchange data with iCal and Address Book, without any third-party software. When combined with NetSyncX, Entourage can exchange data with NetSuite.

I just synchronized with NetSuite, but why are my Entourage and iCal calendars not in sync?

Reset the Entourage Sync Services integration and resync with NetSuite by performing the steps:

  1. Disable Sync Services integration by unchecking General Preferences > Sync Services > Synchronize events and tasks with iCal and MobileMe in Entourage.
  2. Re-enable Sync Services integration and select ‘Delete Entourage Information’ in the next dialog.
  3. Perform a ‘Reset and Full Sync’ with NetSyncX.
